The work of Erika Senft Miller, a multi-sensory artist, creates a unique universe to inspire people to embrace free movement, curiosity, and, importantly, play. As her art largely exists in the physical realm — through performance art, light, and sound — Erika needed a digital home that reflected her work's dynamism.
Discover through play
We created a digital canvas inspired by Erika's key tenants of play and free movement. Organic shapes serve as portals to where users can discover her art, while undulating lines move with them. The website itself forms an art piece: dynamic, playful, and fun.
The homepage resembles an infinite room in constant change, mimicking the liminal space Erika's work inhabits. The user never sees the same homepage twice. It grows, breathes, and changes over time.
Natural light is an essential component of Erika's artwork. To mirror this, we created the site's four color schemes that represent a different time of day: dawn, daylight, evening, and nighttime. The colors change with the time of day the exhibit was held.
Behind the scene audio
We recorded behind-the-scenes audio for each project to reveal more about her personal impressions and intentions behind each. Her honesty humanizes each piece, letting the viewer feel like they are experiencing it alongside her.
Sleeping Babies / Social
Video footage from one of Erikas pieces, Sleeping Babies / Social Sculptures. This was a part of a collaboration with artist, Clark Derbes, and held secretly at a skateboarding park in Burlington Vermont.
